A statistical look at popular American holidays

In 2018, I pitched the idea of a by-the-numbers series that provided readers little known facts about popular holidays. In the past four years, the series has grown to cover 10 holidays each year and become one of the company's most successful products. I research the holidays, pull data and create relevant graphics and illustrations to put the information into an eye-catching and innovative design.

Food

Each week, I curate content for our national food section. I make a budget for the section and come up with content ideas based on the time of year and what's in season. Upon the budget's approval, I pull art, write headlines, then I design the section. I release a budget email midweek informing editors what to expect and later in the week I send them out a full section preview. I see these sections through from start to finish.

Find Your Style

In 2021, some design style stories appeared on our wire service. I was inspired by the pieces and developed them into a series for our national weekly home section. The stories moved without art so I sourced all the images. I also added an information rail to each with additional resources for readers to find their style.
